Project Description

Temporary Road Closure

Robert Dedman will be temporarily closed for utility work from December 22nd to January 31st. The road will be closed daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekends. The closure will extend from 20th Street and Dedman to MLK. The bike lane on the east side of the street will be closed, but the sidewalk will remain open.

Project Location: This project is located on the site south of East 20th Street between San Jacinto Boulevard and Robert Dedman Drive.

Project Impacts

Pedestrian Impacts: The eastbound sidewalk on East 20th Street and the southbound sidewalk on Robert Dedman Drive will be closed for the project's duration.

Construction and landscaping activities will begin on November 25th, 2024, through January 31st, 2025, at the southeast corner of Martin Luther King and Robert Dedman. This work will affect the sidewalk entrance to TSC and ADA access along Martin Luther King.

Travel Impacts: Robert Dedman Drive, East 20th Street, and San Jacinto Boulevard will maintain two lanes of traffic, although temporary lane closures may occur during construction.

Parking Impacts: Street parking will be removed on the southbound side of Robert Dedman Drive and the eastbound side of East 20th Street. Alternative parking is available in any University parking garage, except the Conference Center Garage (CCG), with the display of a permit and state-issued ADA placard or plate. Parking is also available in any other ADA space or D+ space with a valid ADA placard or plate on a space-available basis. For F36 permit holders, parking is available on the east side of Robert Dedman Drive in Lot 80.

Signage will be installed at key locations to assist with wayfinding. Due to the fluid nature of construction, this information is subject to change, but we will do our best to provide timely communication if necessary.
