The renovation of the Mary E. Gearing Hall (GEA) building will involve restoring the exterior, including the masonry cladding, windows, doors, and balconies, and replacing both the sloped clay tile and flat roofs.
Project Location: This project is on the roof levels and all four sides of Mary E. Gearing Hall.
Major Anticipated Outcomes/Benefits of Completed Project: Restoration to Mary E. Gearing Hall.
Project Impacts
Pedestrian Impacts: The walkways around the GEA building will remain accessible during the project, as construction fences will be placed along the edges of the surrounding roads, keeping adjacent sidewalks open to pedestrians.
Travel Impacts: The roads to the west and northwest of University Avenue around the GEA building will be closed for the entire construction period, along with the sidewalks to the east, northeast, and south of the building.
Bicycle Impacts: Some bicycle racks are located inside the proposed construction fences. Bicycle racks will be removed and relocated per CNS direction. Bicyclists are encouraged to refer to the City of Austin Bike Map.
Parking Impacts: Parking impacts can be found here.
