Project Summary
Accessibility improvements to the entrances of and parking areas around the Music Building and Recital Hall (MRH).
Project Location: Music Building and Recital Hall (MRH)
Project Impacts
Pedestrian and ADA Access Impacts: From Dec. 15 to Jan. 10, the west entrance to MRH will be closed. The southwest entrance will remain open and accessible with a temporary ADA ramp. A section of the east sidewalk on Trinity Street will be closed to pedestrians, but there will be temporary ramp crossings to the north and south of the closure.
The northeast entrance to MRH and a section of the south sidewalk on the north side of the building will be closed for the duration of the project. Pedestrians can travel using the north sidewalk. The southeast entrance off Robert Dedman Drive will remain open and is accessible.
Travel Impacts: Trinity Street will remain open. However, traffic may experience occasional, brief delays to allow construction vehicles to pass. Flaggers will be on site as needed.
Bicycle Impacts: The bike rack on the southwest side of the building will be unavailable during construction. However, additional bike racks can be found on the south side of the building. Bicyclists are always encouraged to refer to the City of Austin Bike Map.
Parking Impacts: From Dec. 15 to Jan. 5, seven parking spots on the east side of Trinity Street will be unavailable. These affect 3 F20 spaces, 2 D+/F spaces, and 2 Loading Zones.
From Jan. 5 to Jan. 10, 16 parking spots on the north side of Trinity Street that affect permit F20 permit holders will be closed. The nearest available public parking is the San Jacinto Garage (SAG).
Signage will be installed at key locations to assist with wayfinding. Due to the fluid nature of construction, this information is subject to change, but we will do our best to provide timely communication if changes are necessary.
