Project Description

Project Summary

A new statue of Vincent R. DiNino, UT’s first full-time director of the Longhorn Band, will be installed at the corner of East 23rd Street and San Jacinto Boulevard. Work will start on May 12 and is expected to be completed on August 15.

Project Location: The project is at the southwest corner of East 23rd Street and San Jacinto Boulevard, north of the Cowboy Pavilion.

Major anticipated outcomes/benefits/ of the completed project: A new statue of band leader Vince DiNino will be installed on site, and the north section of the site will have improved landscaping and hardscape.

Project Impacts

Pedestrian impact: Pedestrians traveling on San Jacinto Boulevard will be redirected to the east side of the street. Crosswalks will be available on the north side of 23rd Street and DeLoss Dodds Way, the east side of San Jacinto Boulevard, and in front of the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center.

Traffic impact: No expected impact to roadways or vehicular travel.

Bicycle impact: None. Bicyclists are encouraged to refer to the City of Austin Bike Map.

Parking Impact: No expected impact to roadways or vehicular travel.
