Project Description

Project Summary

A statue of Vince DiNino will be installed at the corner of East 23rd and San Jacinto. The existing Longhorn Band Memorial statue will be relocated to accommodate the new statue. Hardscape improvements will also be made to the corner and the north section of the Texas Alumni Center's site.

Project Location: The project is at the southwest corner of East 23rd Street and San Jacinto Boulevard, north of the Cowboy Pavilion.

Major anticipated outcomes/benefits/ of the completed project: A new statue of band leader Vince DiNino will be installed on campus, and the north section of the campus will have improved landscaping and hardscape.

Project Impacts

Pedestrian impact: Pedestrians will be redirected to the east side of San Jacinto Boulevard at the crosswalk located south of the Cowboy Pavilion, near the corner of 23rd Street and San Jacinto Boulevard. Additionally, at the traffic circle, pedestrians will be rerouted to the north side of the bridge at East 23rd Street.

Traffic impact: No expected impact to roadways or vehicular travel.

Bicycle impact: None. Bicyclists are encouraged to refer to the City of Austin Bike Map.

Parking Impact: No expected impact to roadways or vehicular travel.
