Project Dates
Project Summary: The project includes construction of the new Dinosaur Trackways Building, which will provide approximately 2,000 square feet of exhibition space for the Texas Science & Natural History Museum's 113-million-year-old dinosaur tracks. During construction, pedestrian access impacts will occur along Trinity Street near the Texas Science & Natural History Museum (TMM) and San Jacinto Garage (SJG) from Aug. 10 through Fall 2027.
Project Location: 402 Trinity Street, Austin, TX 78705. North of Texas Science and Natural History Museum (TMM), and south of San Jacinto Garage (SJG).
Project Impacts
Pedestrian impacts:
- Trinity Street: The west sidewalk on Trinity Street between TMM and SJG will be closed. Pedestrians traveling on Trinity Street between TMM and SJG should use the east sidewalk. A temporary ADA ramp is available for pedestrians crossing Trinity Street to access SJG.
- SJG East Entrance/Exit: The south sidewalk in front of the SJG east entrance/exit, directly off Trinity Street, will be closed. Pedestrians should use the north sidewalk in front of the SJG east entrance/exit for access.
- Trail by Dinosaur Footprint Path: The pedestrian path located between TMM and SJG, extending from San Jacinto Boulevard near the Mustang statue to Trinity Street, will be closed. Pedestrians traveling in this area should use the alternate route via San Jacinto Boulevard, DeLoss Dodds Way, and Trinity Street.
Signage will be installed at key locations to assist with wayfining.
Roadway impacts: Trinity Street will remain open throughout construction. Occasional traffic delays may occur due to construction equipment and material deliveries. Flaggers will be onsite during deliveries to assist with traffic control.
Parking impacts: A few F20 parking spaces on the west side of Trinity Street, directly north and south of the east SJG entrance/exit, will be unavailable.
There are no bicycle or bus impacts.
