Project Summary 

The abbreviated Summary of Work is as follows:

  • Dinosaur Trackway Building (DTB) - New approximately 1,800-2,200 square feet ground-up Dinosaur Trackways Building to conserve, house and allow visitors to walk around and experience the 113-million-year-old dinosaur trackways. The new building includes recessed dinosaur trackways with plexiglass partition, with maintenance walking access, 8’ wide public walkway to walk completely around the tracks, interior climate controls for dinosaur trackways conservation with a single standalone mechanical unit, vestibule/interlock entry to support environmental controls, museum exhibit and lobby spaces, storage room, electrical, audio visual, network data cabling network infrastructure, fire alarm, no plumbing infrastructure (no restrooms, drinking fountains, janitor’s closet, fire sprinklers); site lighting, reuse of salvaged limestone and plaques from original building; site improvements to include accessibility improvements from San Jacinto Garage to Trinity Street around the new building and to the Texas Science & Natural History Museum, minor wayfinding signage, integration of existing live oak trees and other natural aesthetics, coordination with UT Landscape for landscape, planting and irrigation improvements.  Coordination with UT Contractor conservation’s for the Dinosaur Trackways which will need to be delivered during construction and protected in place; services include constructability, biddability at schematic design, design development, and construction documents with the potential for one (1) GMP.  The project will result in a new exhibition building to preserve and showcase the Dinosaur Trackways to align with the Museum’s mission statement.
  • The general Construction Budget range for the project is approximately $3,750,000.00 to $4,000,000.00.
