Project Summary
This project at Disch Falk Field involves rebuilding the 32-foot-tall Outfield Batter’s Eye after the wall collapsed in early 2025 due to severe weather. The new structure will include reinforced steel and deep piers to withstand 100 mph winds, with a target completion before players return for camp on January 3, 2026.
Project Location: 1300 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin, TX 78702 (Behind the Disch Falk Field Outfield Wall, at intersection of Disch Falk Rd and Comal St.)
Project Impacts
Pedestrian and ADA Access Impacts: The sidewalk behind Disch Falk Field will be closed for the duration of the project. This will cause any users to use the alternate route further north along Comal St.
Travel and Transportation Impacts: CapMetro has stops at both ends of Disch Falk Rd and typically uses this road to travel between them. During the project, buses will be rerouted southbound on Comal St and then westbound on MLK Blvd to reach the next stop.
Bicycle Impacts: There will be minor impacts to bicycle traffic in this area. The sidewalk behind Disch Falk Field will be closed for the duration of the project, requiring pedestrians and cyclists to use the alternate route north along Comal St. In addition, a two-lane closure on Disch Falk Rd is planned for approximately December 11–17, which will affect all through traffic. Bicyclists are always encouraged to refer to the City of Austin Bike Map.
Parking Impacts: There will be parking impacts to both the CPC lot and the adjacent lot at Disch Falk Rd and Comal St. The CPC lot will be affected for the duration of the project. The adjacent lot will only be impacted during crane operations, tentatively scheduled for December 1–17.
Signage will be installed at key locations to assist with wayfinding. Due to the fluid nature of construction, this information is subject to change, but we will do our best to provide timely communication if changes are necessary.
